FujiGoban Free
Version:2.6.7-free
Published:2026-08-06
Introduction
FujiGoban Free is a compact Go kifu viewer and editor built for players who want to study, replay and annotate games on the move. As the ad-supported free edition of FujiGoban Pro, FujiGoban Free opens standard game records so you can step through variations, add comments and marks, and keep a portable library of past matches for focused study or casual review between players. It’s geared toward two-player analysis rather than single-player AI battles, letting you replay sequences, undo moves, capture position screenshots and quickly export positions for further inspection.
Key Features
⭐ Open SGF, NGF, UGF and GIB game records and paste SGF data directly from the clipboard.
⭐ Record and edit kifu: add moves, comments, game information, markups and branch variations with ease.
⭐ Human-vs-human board for review and friendly matches, with undo/redo capability (about 30 steps).
⭐ Send the current board position to the included AI module (Fujigoban.js) and capture screenshots of any position.
⭐ Backup and restore SGF collections, open SGF files attached to email or stored in cloud services, and share kifu as text or file.
⭐ Customizable preferences for coordinates, board color, line display and default folders; FujiGoban Free presents English menus for straightforward navigation.
Advantages
✅ Matches the feature set of the paid edition except for advertising, so players get full record-editing capabilities without extra cost.
✅ Supports multiple record formats and clipboard import, making it easy to collect and organize games from different sources.
✅ Focused on post-game study and two-player review, ideal for analyzing joseki, life-and-death sequences and long variations with a partner.
✅ Lightweight workflow for saving, sharing and restoring kifu files, plus quick screenshots for training notes or study archives.
Disadvantages
❎ This free edition displays ads; the paid version is identical in features but ad-free.
❎ No built-in human-vs-computer match mode — the board is intended for human-vs-human review rather than playing against an engine.
❎ Undo/redo depth is limited to about 30 moves, which may restrict very long step-by-step rewinds during deep analysis.
