Introduction
Meteobot is a weather station app built for precision farming that delivers real-time weather and soil data from your local Meteobot station so you can make timely field decisions. The app reports rainfall amount and intensity, soil temperature and moisture at up to three depths, air temperature, humidity and pressure, wind speed and direction, and leaf wetness, with updates as often as every 10 minutes. It also keeps long-term records in the cloud, offers a 10-day local forecast with fine spatial accuracy, and calculates agronomic indicators that support irrigation, spraying and crop management choices.
Key Features
⭐ Meteobot provides real-time sensor data: rain amount and intensity, soil temperature, soil moisture at up to 3 depths, air temperature, humidity, pressure, wind and leaf wetness, updated every 10 minutes.
⭐ 10-day local forecast with hourly detail for the first two days and 6-hour steps for days 3–10, with a spatial accuracy of about 8 km based on a high-resolution weather model.
⭐ Agronomic indicators such as rain sums, weekly and monthly precipitation, temperature sums, average daily temperature and leaf wetness duration to support agronomic decisions.
⭐ Unlimited cloud storage of historical station data so you can review past seasons without gaps.
⭐ Field-history mode: outline field boundaries to get station-based agro-meteorological history for that area and receive targeted alerts.
Advantages
✅ Precise, field-level observations coming from your own or nearby station improve the accuracy of on-farm decisions compared with distant weather sources.
✅ Meteobot centralizes weather and soil records in the cloud, making it easy to analyze trends and plan operations across seasons.
✅ Detailed forecasts and agronomic metrics help optimize irrigation timing, pesticide applications and risk management.
✅ Automated alerts notify you about important agro-meteorological events so you can act faster without constant manual monitoring.
Disadvantages
❎ Requires a Meteobot weather station on or near your land to obtain direct, field-level measurements rather than relying on distant sensors.
❎ Forecast spatial accuracy is about 8 km, which may not reflect very small-scale microclimates inside large or highly variable fields.
❎ Advanced agronomic outputs depend on correct sensor installation and accurate field boundary mapping to be most effective.
